Ok,i saw the post that DZ made about stupid questions so so i am thinking of making this post to prevent the questions in the near FUTURE:

Q:What tools do i use to make models.
A:GmaX-www.discreet.com.

Q:I got GmaX but couldnt export to W3D.What now?
A:You have two options:
1)Get RenX-ftp.westwood.com in Pub->Renegade->Tools
2)Wait for the official Generals Tools

Q:Where can i download a software like XCC Mixer which can use to tweak Generals?
A:http://xccu.sourceforge.net/ - XCC Universal Reader or http://wagnerma.de/ - FinalBIG (or whatever it was called)

Q:Is genrals rule.ini based?
A:No.You have to edit a lot of files to get a single effect. Its hard but if you are creative-you will like it :D

Q:What are the File Formats and how do i open them?
A:

.w3d - 3D models (one file format is used for all game objects). The format is slightly different from Renegade to allow for vertex shading and possible inclusions resulting from the release of the DirectX9 API.The files cant be opened by the basic gamepack for GmaX that will be released by EAP.Information will be added shortly

.tga - TrueVision Targa is used for skins on the models and pretty much most other images in the game, in the format of single textures and texture pages. Can be opened, using Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop.Photoshop is better.

.dds - compiled object image data (skins). Can be opened using plugins for Paintshoppro/Photoshop

.pso - shaders. Not any known reading software.

.mp3 - music.Can be opened/edited using Sound Forge

.wav - IMA ADPCM is used for sound effects and other audio. Can be opened/edited using Sound Forge

.bik - Bink video format for movies. Can be opened/edited using the Smacker Tools

.csf - string file (may possibly revert to .str which is easier to edit as you can use WordPad)

.map - maps, both multi and single player. May be possible to use WordPad for map mods although the 3D terrain and map data will probably be compressed base64 fashion into one section of the file again as the 3D data is based on LightWave .3do format which bloats the file. The files can be opened, using WorldEditor.

.wnd - menus and dialogs (can all be edited).

.ini - INI files. Can be opened with Notepad(in XP) or WordPad(in other WinOS)

Q:How do you make hidden Vehicles buildable?
A:Edit CommandButton.INI and CommandSet.INI
(NOTE:Some W3D files may be missing from retail!!!)

Q:Will i be able to add new sides?
A:Yes.Edit PlayerTemplate.ini

Q:How do i skin my models?

Q:Where can I get all of the mod tools like renx and etc
A:Most of the tools arent out but you can get RenX at ftp.westwood.com in Renegade->Tools :)

Q:Where can i get WorldBuilder?
A:It ships with the game.

Q:Give me guns!
A:I cant-use some mod tools instead! (http://online.deezire.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=801)
