I'm no expert on star wars stuff, but isn't the nose a bit too fat/stubby? Otherwise I like :D

very nice!
iam a big Starwars fan, and it looks great, proportions are fine.
anyway, gave them a laser? You have to give them a laser :P
like i said, i dont do INI yet :P
the X-wings are designed in 3DMax4.2
but i normally work in Gmax, cuz i dont like siwtching back and forth between programs (need gmax to export)

Wow sicness :)
Make three sides...
Rebel Alliance, Empire, and maybe Gungans, or Wookies, or Geonosians, or Trade Federation...
Man this mod is gonna own ;)

The rebel alliance will be pleased ;)
Now how to do you stop the Emperor from discovering your new figthers ?
Hehe, *Nerd*
The fuselage is definatly a bit too fat, but the skin is great!

OK they look great, good that someone other than me is making a serious mod!
Have you been hosted yet, cause im sure many sites will host u!
A few comments:
1. The X Wings need purple jets and purple tracers from the engines.
2. Make them have proton torpedoes as a secondary weapon.
3. If possible, make them alternate wings between attack and non-attack positions (star wars fans should know this

very very nice Zoop :) hey, out of curiosity, may i see the 3DS file for that zoop? im trying to get a grasp on HOW boxy(lacking of detail) to make things for generals.. im used to going VERY high detail (screws bolts what not) and so i need to make some adjustments. I made an IFV< but i donno, just doesn't look right yet.. and plus im lacking textures too, need to get some tonight if i can.. and yes, i can model better then this by far, But i just dont know how low of detail to go to keep the game running right..

Arrhh !! way too high poly !
"File - Properties" and look for the poly count. Not sure what the Generals average unit poly count is but thats heaps.
Try do as much as you can with textures rather than actually making the shapes.

really!? god damn that sucks, that is about the lowest detail i can go! honestly, i h8 going so low on detail... i feel like im doing an half assed job. I dont use GMAX BTW, hence i dont have that feature.. ill see if my rhino can do poly check. hmmm, i can tunderstand how thats too high of detail, it almost doesnt look like and IFV to me lol. what areas can i cut back on? didnt mean to take Zoops thread, perhaps ill make a new one.

Turning the circles into hexagons is a good way to make cylinders in Generals. I use em and cylinders raise the poly count heaps

What are you using ? Even most freeware apps have a polycount feature somewhere.
If its 3DSMax then it does have that feature in there somewhere as Gmax is a stripped version of 3.1 .
The real skill in low polymodelling is good texturing. I'll have a go at a IFV model ( no skinning ) and see how low I can do it in.

94 Vertices
204 faces
2 objects
And I haven't started going through and cutting excess faces, vertices, etc out of it yet.
I admit its not the correct proportions, but I wasn't trying for a perfect model, more of an example of how low things can go. If I was going to skin it the missing features I would do with the textures.
My X-wing is about 300 polys.
You just use too many standard shapes (chamfer boxes, boxes, cylinders) thats why its all high polycount...
I made my X-Wing body out of a box, the engiens out of cylinders, and the wings out of boxes too, and apply detail to it with the skin.
Try to make your model out of as few seperate objects as possible, that way you cant get your poly that high. Also check your polycount regularly ... that way you can see if that cylinder can get some more faces or not ... if you think,sh*t its too high, jsut redo the cylinder.
Low Poly modelling is quite ez

Actually its better to try work from one object in some instances as you end up with faces that never get scene adding to poly count.
The IFV was 2 boxes, one for the body which I mirrored and attached, and the turret.
But in the X-Wing you can see where adding the engines as boxes/cylinders makes sense, not knowing how much you can animate on a unit though, not sure if the wings would be better being indiviual boxes or a single shape. I havent looked into the animation systems.

Excellent, Zoop!
Will these be available to other modders, or strictly as part of your own mod? I'll get it anyway, but I'd like to put it in mine as well (not public yet, just some fun for skirmish so far, very simple too). If public, where can I get them?
Looks just fine. As for weapons, lasers would be good for primary weapon (air and ground targets please) though the red traces from the elite apache chaingun would work too. Plus proton torpedos for secondary (ground targets only). Will you be doing any of the various kinds of TIE's as well? I'd definetly like to see the advanced model that Darth flew chasing Luke during the trench run.

The model looks good, but I'm not sure about the nose.
And it's hard to see the R# unit.
