Wow, this is just great.

For no absolute reason, 1/2 of my data was deleted from my INIZH.

It just disappeared.

FinalBIG still marks the container files like FactionBuilding.INI to have full data. (There is no text, but the file reads as 150000+ Kb)

Any reason to this? And is there any hope of a recovery of the lost data?

I have some backups, but most of them are outdated compared to the recent changes I made.

Why did you make changes to INIZH.BIG? You should never change that file, only extract files from it. You will probably have to reinstall from CD to get it back.

Really, I never knew that.

Well the major missing data is recovered, and I'm repairing all the missing units, etc on a separate file.

Believe it or not, I hexed the INIZH.BIG for awhile to change/mod the game before I knew this site, or how to extract the .inis. It worked as long as you left the exact number of characters (Editpadpro helped on this) in the file. It worked, and if you change certain things, it gives fits (won't load game - crash at startup). Now .inis make my work loads easier, but all of that for months made me understand the game .ini files way more, now the only thing I get nervous over is changing .w3d's (I add points to the stinger sites, but that is it :o)

Further note : Any .inis in data/ini/# that are there overide this file anywho, but it is still needed to load. (I think)

Yeah, their right, you should never work on your primary INIZH.big file. Instead extract the files. and besides, they are alot easier to manage in .ini form anyways.
