See thats the thing I have done that but it isnt copying it as a shp.
I'll bet it is and you'll find the file in your root directory. You do know there's a middle pane in XCC mixer, right?

Or else you're trying to convert an image that isn't 256 colors. Look at the status bar at the bottom, it will tell you if the process succeeded or failed.
