They're not supposed to. If they were touching, the ends would poke through the bucket when it does it's mine clearing animation. The chinese dozer has even bigger gaps...

Somebody might want to use it for a new, higher tech GLA General once ZH comes out, or (which was what i originally designed it for) as a dozer to build 'stolen tech' buildings using knowledge from captured POW's.
