The Germans and Russians did not like each other Stalin was jsut... strange because even with all the warning, Stalin still didn't believe word aobut the invasion. The Germans did have the treaty but broke it when Hitler had taken over Europe and was bombarding england in the Battle of Britain. He believed that the Soviets woudl be ap ush over, after all he did fight in WWI and also, the Russian purges had destroyed most of the senority in the Russian Military.
You know, a interesting WWII fact is that before the Battle of Stalingrad(Present Day Volgagrad), a Panzer unit was reactivated after about three months weathering the cold, some of the tanks didn't turn on and otehrs even caught fire because while they were insolated by hay, mice had gone in and chewed the wiring out:-p
