precicely.

flyby, we cant out run horses because we arent designed to go fast, our muscles arent big enough, unlike the huge muscles of a horce or cheetah. but we are higly adaptable. also, if you get 4 legs, at least 2 of them have to be on the floor at once to balance it, so, yes its easier to balance, but when moving, its actually harder than 2 legs, as it has an imbalance as the legs are diagonal, and so is likely to fall over, especially if it get hit by an explosive, but a 2 legged mech could place its legs out to give it a huge base, and so be almost impossible to push over (you ever tried pushing someone over when they have a huge base?) put it this way, all forms of legs are flawed, except 6, as they leave a triangular footprint, which has no weaknesses, so that or tracks is the best way to go

oh, also flyby, cheetahs and horses spend most of their time in the air, but i cant see a heavy mech doing that, so it would move more like an elephant or cow, and cows are easy to tip over (hence the famous student sport of cow tipping)
