XCC warning
I love XCC Mod Creator & Launcher. Anyone who has used it loves it.
But there is a problem, at least with version 1.09, that you should be aware of. Now this problem may have been fixed in a subsequent release of the program but the creator has thus far not responded to my e-mail and it is not mentioned on the web site.
The problem is this: INI compression doesn't work properly.
I expect many of you use this option to reduce the filesize, as it can reduce 'rules-only' mods by a fair amount.
Evidence for this lies in a recent project in which I tried the mod with ini compression and without. Nothing else was changed.
Without ini compression, everything was fine.
With ini compression, the Mirage Tank weapon glowed white instead of red and any infantry killed by it did not burst into flames (they just disappeared).
I would not for an instant suggest you stop using the program as it has made the lives of modders and players alike much easier. Just be aware that ini compression can cause problems and you should consider not using it at all, but certainly turn it off if you have an unexplainable problem.
Fortunately, in the case of larger mods which include additional artwork and audio data the filesize is not reduced by a high percentage and so the loss of ini compression is not a great worry.
As I said, I found this to be the case with version 1.09 and have not tried subsequent versions.
