I tried it with the laser patriot setup but it doesn't work like it should.

I did that when i tested it out but it doesn't feel right and once in a while you get a very long beam or multiple shots from a tower in a short amount of time. How about having a nearby tower fire a weapon that gives a firepower bonus to the tower that is firing until it is also within range, that is also how the ones in ra2 seem to work. We can make it to where the ones giving the support (firepower bonus) just light up or we can give them a bogus weapon that acts like the patriot support but give it the same range and fire rate as the main weapon so that it apears when the others fire.
