Default New Generals Menu For Ya!

In the spirit of open source and all that jazz, Im offering a Generals Experience Points menu I did some time back for download here. Other mod authors may find it useful as it allows you to get around the current restrictions and really open things up by providing new abilities.

Whats it do?
- Allows all 5 ranks. The idea is you start at 1 Star General Level and can progress through 2, 3 and 4 Star right up to and including 5 Star General. To that end, it also gets rid of the 'Level' comment as theres now just the 5 straight levels.

- Allows up to 4 'abilities' per 'rank' giving you up to 16 per 'side'.

- Its generic. Theres no real way to have a different menu for each side as they all share the same one. BUT - if you are clever enough in specifying what is available to each side (and where) through CommandSet.INI then you can really customize its look per side.

- The attached pic shows an example of what it looked like in game for the USA.

Hows it work?
- Stick the .wnd file in your 'Window' folder and it simply gets used in place of the one in the game. Umm, that it! The whole idea relies upon this file.

How do I use it in my mod?
- Youll need to distribute that file (duh).

- You will need to do some serious editing of CommandSet.INI to get things to appear in the right place. Forget about rank numbers as with this file they bear no relation to where stuff appears, BUT the rank system still works intactly. The numbering is only out because I threw this together real quick only for the sake of being able to play with the Generals ablities. Theres a text file in the zip that shows you the preferred layout of each sides CommandSet for the Generals abilities menu - yes its a kinda rough sketch but with a bit of patience youll soon figure it out.

- Youll then have to edit Science.INI to make sure that you can then only get the right stuff at the right ranks by using the PrerequisiteSciences = line.

but Im a n00b and cant figure it out
- Sorry but I did this quite a while back and am not planning on making any use of it personally, so I cant support it any more than offer it here and provide the text file I did which tries to explain it. I made it for myself, not to be widely distributed, so it comes as-is. The idea is also to allow people to gain some understanding of how it all fits and works, so at least it gives you something to play with

If you use this right, you can make a serious gameplay enhancement to your mod. Hope you like at and you guys find it useful as it would have been a shame to see it condemned to the Recycle Bin
