I'm afraid, as I say, I haven't done scripting - so I can't really help. The best advice I can give is just to play with it as its the easiest way to learn coding in general.
http://sdi.game-mod.net/ may be of use, but no doubt you have already seen it. I'm sure a scripting gawd will be around at some point to help though ^_^
There is an advanced skirmish script knocking around, I read about it on
www.cncden.com on occasion, but I can't remember its name nor have I used it, but I hear its good for vanilla ZH. You could open that and see if it helps ( or just use it, if you get bored
