reverse engineering software isn't illegal unless its explicity ruled out in the EULA, and even then... that may not have any legal standing
Note how many software boxes and installers say "by checking the box you agree to..." or "by breaking this seal you agree to..." rather than "by running this program, you agree to..."
Unless you're referring to the DCMA, but that isn't applicable in this case, because we're not doing anything to do with encryption
Oh, and did you know that every copy of Windows since Windows95 OSR2 (aka Win95B) has an NSA Backdoor inside?
