From the look of it you have to stick with the allieds sidebar or redo it, bobing is right about that part. Most people actually do start off with an ingame screenshot, it is better to see the complete image and cut it accordingly. You do need to know which side it belongs to before you start (a piece of information I forgot to mention sorry about that it was quite late when I typed it).
This is how I do it when the main part is done.
Create a new palette file (decrease the colors to 256 in paint shop pro). Save the palette and press shift+p this will bring up the palette so you can edit it. Change the index1 to RGB 255 0 255 (this will be the transparent color). Save the palette again but not the image, open the image again and apply the palette and save the image you can now create a new palette to be used for your ingame menu and it won´t have any problems with the index1 in your palette. Use xcc mixer to copy it as your new palette, this palette should also be in the new sidec01.mix when you are done.
Extract all of the corresponding frames from the sidec01.mix, open the first frame lets say you start with "side1" you will now know that the frame is 168x69 in size select the exact same size in your new sidebar image and cut it. Press paste it into a new image and apply the palette, save the image as "side1". Repeat the process until all of the frames are done.
