Just FYI, the x86 based 64bit processors do not emulate 32bit mode AFAIK and more than 32 Bit processors emulate 16 bit mode. Its just one of the modes that the processor can execute code in natively. Saying it might be a 64 bit processors fault is like saying it might be because you use amd instead of intel or vice versa.
