i find it a bit simplistic, might look a lot better with a skin on it, tho

not bad, you're on the right track.

try playing with the bevel function. that will allow you to make a domed turret without too many polys.

Barrels can be 4 or 6 sided and still look great in game.

You can also remove the polys from the bottoms of the pieces since they are never seen

thats an improvement. me thinks that general's does need some better base defences much like in ra2 where they had different levels of base defences; ight, inexspensive, require little power and heavy, exspensive and a drain on resources

Yes, but that wouldn't fir into the whole theme. No modern army uses permanent static defense - they are too vulnerable to missile attacks (LRBM, ICBM, etc)

also in todays terms there is no point in building a base cause until WW1 were there was virtually no good way to be offensive....

now were at a stage where its virtually impossible to defend ourselves

You people make me sick, is it mandatory to say "looks good" after someone posts ANYTHING??!?!?!? This guy admits that it is his 2nd model...what he needs is some helpful advice. Personally I think that he just needs a lot more practice at modeling, and some good advice. As a friend of mine once said "being a newbie at modeling is no excuse for crap"(he'll get it). Stop being so damn nice! Get a f'ing pair and be critical because that is the only real way for these people to learn.

I swear I am tempted to load up gmax, make a ball...stick a little box poking out of it, take a screenshot and post it here....just to see exactly what type of polite comments you'll think of.

-to the newbie who made this post: no offence to you, you are new at this stuff...my comments are directed toward those in the forums here who are too lazy or don't have enough nuts to say what is needed to be said. It is great that you are learning modeling....but you still have a long way to go.
