Hey, since i cant model or edit the game very much, ive decided to put my skills towards doing what i do best, photoshopping stuff. So i extraced the UI and had a bash at making a new one for hte USA.

It reflects the high tech..ness of hte USA in hte future, and what i was trying to do is give it that "HUD" feel, instead of a really solid and static ui that the previous C&C games have had. I think games nowadays should have translucent and more user friendly UI's, like Freelancer for example, so i based this one on that. I just need to tweak it abit and change the buttons and it should be done,. Im gonna take off the United States bit, or change it to a different size and font.

So, what you think ?

Its amazing what you can do with hte UI for Generals, like you can have shadows nad glows on the edges of things, which usually in other games go all ghey and stuff and white around the edges of the shadow, like making a transparent gif of something with shadow, it goes strange. But not with Generals, i had shadows on it earler and it looked good. Might try an inside shadow on some stuff, might look like its embossed into the game itself hehe.

Im trying to think of what i can do for China.

Maybe similar thing, just less advanced, if you know what i mean. Think of this one as hte latest in US tech like a holographic hud. The Chinese one is like it just red, and with maybe a flicker in it somewhere. The GLA one could be a standard hud which is still solid, but maybe almost holographic, like being projected from somewhere like old holographs. ?? HMm

Oh heres a previous incarnation of what i was doing. But then i saw it ingame and realised it was trekish so i immediatly got rid.

But one thing which is pissing me off is that big black box behind the UI. It not part of the UI itself, i believe its the size of the playing field, so essentially im not getting 800*600 of a playing field. What i would like is to get rid of the black box then i can have a more translucent UI But ive had a look around in the inis and cant see anything straight offhand any mention to it. But alas im thick so there ya go. What i need it to b is either gone or almost gone you know like when you press the minimise taskbar button you get a full playing field view, no black box. I would like it like that, does anyone have any ideas how to do that , dee, anyone ???

Ive came to the conclusion that it cant be anything to do with the UI itself, at first i thought it was for the buttons, but since some buttons are above the box and are clickable then it cant be. What is it for ? Why have they restricted playing field view ?
