Default Question about playing a little mod

I just made a multiplayer mod to edit the gameplay to make it more fair for me and my friends. There are only changes in the INI.big.
Is it so that the game will run (in a network) if me and my friends just all backup their original INI.big and replace them with mine. Or will that still give a mismatch error?
It's a bit of a problem to test it at the moment, so i just ask it If i have to change anything i have to do it in the coming hour

n00bs.. you dont replace the INI.big, nor are you supposed to change it when modding. what you do is use a BIG extractor like Bigpop to extract the ini files that you want to change, edit them, then go into generals/data and create a folder called INI (all in caps) and put them in there. for any ini files that control units/buildings, (ex. factionunit.ini) put them in a subfolder of the INI folder - generals/data/INI/objects.

erm mind if i n00b you too cos there's an even easier way
compile a BIG of all the editted files (ie FactionUnits.ini) with their respective folder paths (ie data\ini\object\FactionUnits.ini) and put it in the my documents\generals bit and then use the -mod commandline with your modded BIG's name and run the game that way

well thats how i do it because i dont have the patch which allow you to use the -mod command line, and i dont feel like downloading it right now.

Ah i see, 'tis pretty handy though because you can keep lots of mods on at once and run different ones by using different shortcuts, and it keeps your original generals directory nice and just-patched fresh

i suppose. none of the mods i download use the big files anyways so i have no use for that trick.

Just 2 let you know, i used the Redattack3 method and it works fine. I can nicely make an auto extracter now
