Default Totally n00b question

I have only just started modding and am getting the hang of the INI files. BUT how do you make the changes/addditions show up ingame. I have followed some tuts on making the old SW reactivate (such as TerrorCell) but it never shows up. I think i may be doing something wrong after i have changed the INI's. Where should the new folder go?

Plz help. I just spent a week trying to get Napalm strike, Carpet bombing and Terror cell to show up ingame and i have been over the INIs and the tuts several times, but it still does not work. HELP!!!

You should try something much more simple. Try changing the damage of a Crusader to 999 and test to see if you can get it in-game. If it works then try doing something harder and getting used to INI editing. The best way too learn is to compare your INI code to the original INI code and just make sure everything is identical that you have not changed. Compare the Napalm Strike code to the other abilities and see whats different. Try changing things and testing. Search INI files for entries of napalmstrike to see what you might be missing.

I tried adding another unit. It was a humvee with the police car model. Still did not work. That was the first thing i did. At one stage i could not even get Generals to run any other mods. I did a reinstall and have not stuck any other mods on yet, coz i want to get at least sumthing to work.

Yeah I know that. What i meant was where in the Generals Folders. Should it be "Command and Conquer Generals/INI/Data/INI" or should it be "Command and Conquer Generals/Data/INI" or "Command and Conquer Generals/INI/" or does it go somewhere in the Generals data folder and if so where?

It should be in the Command and Conquer Generals/Data/INI folder.
