how do you make button images im a real newbie at this part i need to be able to use images like gif or jpeg to convert or whatever thanks

first all button images need to be in the tga format

then make all you buttons the same size

i made 2 of eack 1 100x100 and 1 50x50

then open the userinterface512.ini for the side getting the buttons

then add new button mapped image locations like this
MappedImage su27k_L
Texture = su27k_L.tga
TextureWidth = 100
TextureHeight = 100
Coords = Left:1 Top:1 Right:99 Bottom:99
Status = NONE
End


MappedImage su27k
Texture = su27k.tga
TextureWidth = 50
TextureHeight = 50
Coords = Left:1 Top:1 Right:49 Bottom:49
Status = NONE
End

then open factionunit.ini and look for the
art parameters and it says

portrait = mig_L
button image = mig

change thos to the name of the button images you added to the userinterface512

the open the commandbutton.ini

find the same unit and where it says

button image = mig

change that to the same name as the 50x50 image you put in the userinterface.ini

A few extra tips you can just create a seperate tga file for the buttons you don't need to add it to the one which contains all the other buttons. Saves problems with the cordinates and stuff. Also if your doing a lof of them and you don't want to get them muddeled up with existing ones you can create a new INI file and put the INI entries in there for example, MyModButtons.ini

NewGhost, I can understand what you're goin through. Stumped me quite a bit at first but once I actually tried making them, I got the hang of it and realized how easy it is. Fire up photoshop, get some pics thrown into a tga, copy a SUinterface INI and replace it with your own stuff. Go back to photoshop, get the top left and bottom right corner coordinates of each pic and put those in the INI. The ini's tell the game where to look for the stuff and by editing it with your own stuff you're giving the game a "map" so it can find yours. I dunno how else to explain it, if you're persistent enough you'll figure it out on your own.
