Having problems making something (as I'm an ultra lame noob)
I've made loads of designs for vehicles (loads of mehcwarrior walker type things) for generals i've now sortedthe software and have been fiddeling around with it. I have tried to make a vehicle closely resembling a ferret scout vehicle ( a kind of small 2 man armoured car), but i can only get as far as a basic outline of the vehicle I can't manage to go any extra detail. If I knew how to import images into posts i would show you my design and my efforts in creating it.
Can anyone help me at all?????[/img]

well, to start learning a bit of modelling, its handy to find some reference of even draw your own reference.
If you have a side picture of your unit you want to create, then you have a lot ...
Try making a box in your 3d modelling program, and apply the reference as a skin.
Then use the box modelling technique ... create a box use Alt+X to make it transparant (so you can see the reference through it), and use extrudes and bevels to try match the reference.
This way you quickly get a model that is shaped like you reference. If you have a front and top view reference aswell, then you should be able to replicate the model very well ...
Its how i learned to model, over time you get a feeling for it, and you can do it with jsut looking at a picture, or even out of your imagination

Um, What exactly are you asking? Is this a question about adding pictures to the viewports or adding pics in DeeZire? As for an out line, Im not quite sure what it is your doing wrong, Im not and expert at 3d modeling like some (Proclone,Henford,WeeRaby) but If your asking about how to upload pics to the forum.. thats an easy one. Well first you scroll down to the bottom of the page with your post on it and click, the normally there.. Add Attackment button, but you want to browse for a pic on your HD so just navigate to it and select it.. but I don't think that has been re-added to the new servers yet.

I can get the basic outline and extrude it, but i can't add any details. I want to have indentation that the wheels fit into, and it has a machine gun on top which is manually operated (like the technical). I also want to add small bulldozer like bits to the front (perfect for squishin men). I can't do any of these things. I have the basic vehicle but can't add any of the things I want.
I don't think there is an add attachment option available.

Yes, as he said, the attachment option has not been readded as of yet. As for your model, I'd quickly read through proclone's modeling tutorial in the generals tutorials section. It should help you quite a bit. Basically, instead of making a box I'd recommend making the side outline of your figure using the line tool, extruding it out to the side, moving around verticies as your choose, mirroring it over the axis (you've been modeling half of it), welding together all the verticies created at the axis you mirrored it over, and then adding the small details that aren't bilaterally symmetrical. For a better explanation, read that tutorial.
