Default My models

Instead of a different topic every time I do a model, I'll just put them all in one topic...

My first model can be found here.

Model two: A simple hover tank:

^Polycount:~300

Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

Thats WWAAAYYY to many polies for that simple a vehicle. Way to many. That should be done with less than two hundred polies, not three hundred.

Try using a different modeling style. Instead of box modeling (which you're doing) try Using lines to 'trace' your vehicle, then extrude, its easier to make low poly that way.

Instead of what use what and then who-what?

I'm almost with you until you get to the "extrude" part... :tard:

And what's all the big fuss about polycounts anyways? I mean, even a $100 graphics card can handle in excess of 100 million polys at once... :/

The fuss about poly counts is that in Generals, nothing should go over 500 polies unless its either extremely expensive or a hero unit\ only one buildable.

Duke, add it up. What about those good ol'e endurance online games, or gigantic rush games. Take about 5000 polies for your base, then 5000 more to your vehicles, then about 20,000 more polies worth of enemy vehicles, then all of the OTHER players and their polies, then the trees and ground and chit... suddenly a $100 dollar video card isn't good enough. I have a Radeon 9500, 40 Gigs worth of memory, 512 ram. I need that damned Nvidia GeForcex4 4200...

How did you import that image of your vehicle into ur post. I can't find a button anywhere which would allow me too.

Also have a look at your model from underneath. You shouldn't be able to see many faces. If u cansave it then delete some of them.( I do it be deleting the edges). Remember in game you will only see the top half of your vehicle. Any parts of your vehicle which can only be see when looking at it from below should be removed.
