Okay, I'm just messing around with my ini files and made myself a carpetbomb and some other stuff and I have a question.
Is there a way I can make a structure that gives me the options to buy an infantry unit that parachutes to target location?
Making the unit appear in the desired location instantly (that is making it fall to the ground from where you click) is preferred, but I can handle a transport taking it to the location.
Recap:
Have a building where I can buy a unit and have it appear in a parachute at the specified target. Eventually have a transport ship it.
A lot of people seem to have the same idea. Mastermind and I have something as a work around with a buildable C-130, where you parachute stuff out of the plane based on OCL buttons. I have another idea in the works that doesn't need parachutes whatsoever (I've seen it work in DZ's Pro:gen so it should work.... theoretically)
I've got it working, more or less. But is there a way to do it without creating a unit that dies and then calls in the reinforcements? That's kinda awkward IMHO.
I haven't experimented with upgrades and sciences and stuff yet, so tell me if this would be possible:
You click a button on the war factory (or whatever your vehicle creation center is), it costs X amount, but it works like the paradrop, you get to select where the vehicle falls. Basically a paradrop w/o a timer that costs every time you use it. I can't think of how it'd be done, but it should be possible by combining modules and stuff.
bleh, I just worked on it for an hour and came up with nothing. I had the paradrop selectable from the War Factory and the command center (but it had a timer because cost wasn't working, not like I was aiming for) so then I deleted the paradrop module from the command center so it would only be from the war factory, and I started getting a tech difficulties error on loadup, which I have no idea what caused, so I'm out of ideas. Maybe I'll work on it later.
