Ok, I've d/led your mod and played with it a bit. I just wanted to state my opinion on some things.

First of all, I would like to say that it is pretty sloppy. The building models themselves aren't bad, but you haven't really ADDED much as far as a unique Soviet unit, you've just put skins on old units. The closest thing I saw to a unique unit (and actually, it was a building) was your unbuildable tesla like thing. I do understand this is a beta though, so I'm hoping that you are planning on changing a lot of that.....

...moving on though....this isn't to say your mod is totally without merit. Your 'Flash' science is rather destructive and I must say I'm curious as to how you coded it. Your Napalm strike is also VERY destructive. By no means is this balanced (as you said), but I would like to say that I at least found some interesting things in it. I'll look forward to trying a complete one.

Well, I followed the instructions given in the readme and pretty much everything is invisible if I play as Russia. I've got the dds files and the mapped_images ini's in the right places so I'm not sure what is wrong with it.

Heh, seems I had to throw the big file itself in there as well, everything works now, to a degree.

The building textures for Russia are pretty bad, they need serious work, in fact, the only thing that looked good out of that entire faction was the tank, everything else needs better skins. I know you're trying with the cameos, but they still look kinda cheesy. Only played US and Russia so I dunno what you did for China or GLA yet. Of what I've seen on those two factions, you've got some issues with helicopter rotor animations, some are too fast, some are too slow and on one the tail rotor didn't even work, another it wasn't even there. I think the Battleship and Blackhawk need to be rescaled, they both look too small. Everything weapon wise seems to have been given some serious upgrades, as reload times and damage need some tweaking- for example, sub with cruise missile spamfire, didn't like that much. Radiation and wreckage stay on screen like some mods I've seen in the past. The animation on the Russian nuke needs work, it launches sideways Also, you need to fix the victory thing for the 4th side. Anyways, overall I do like some of the stuff you're implementing, at first I thought you figured out the build on water stuff. Carbon, the Tesla thing does work, just get a strat center with US and have the second construction dozer, reminds me more of Yuri's saucer thing in YR than tesla coils.

the problem is you installed it wrong
the readme tells you how to install it via the -mod commnand so if you are putting mapped image files in places then you opened th big file which you dont have to do

put the big file in you my document command and conquer dat folder as if you were installing new maps and extact the ini.exe and the use the shortcut that i provided and you will have no problems if you dont follow the instruction then you will english is english so if you cant read english then you will be lost

the coil is buildable you need a level 3 rank to build it

as far as balance i am open to sugestions that is why it is beta i have no beta testers so the public is it

Yeah, I kinda realized where it was messed up when I kept checking different sections- like the background and cameos were purple. Checked the ini and texture sections, everything was where it should be, then I tried just putting the big file itself in the data folder and it works. I think it might've messed up some of the Russian airplane textures though as they were all black.

Well, the main thing I can say then is to just come up with new units. I'm not sure who else is making a USSR mod (I know someone is, I just don't remember what team) but you really do need new units. At least use some units from RA2 like they are doing.

But..as I also said..I am interested in your 'Omega 2' power. I'd like to discuss how you coded it, if you don't mind. PM me and we'll chat.

I hate how your mod is setup to install, maybe if you pm me I will make you a good installer/uninstaller.... because right now it is too much of a hassle.

you only have toput a coupl of files in the right place how is that a problem?

plus it is a pain to make an in staller that will put the big file in everyone mydocument/username/command and conquer data folder noone has the same user name so then thye will have to manually select that folder anyway
