Default New Special Ability Idea

Ok, I had an idea to make a Special Ability that acts as a 'Capture Building' type effect. Hence, if you saw something within radar range, you would be able to capture that building. (Imagine the possibilies of being able to steal a Nuke Missile Silo 10 seconds before it launches)

However...I've ran into some problems trying to implement this. I tried making a new special ability based on Black Lotus' capture buidling ability and then editing the Module Update in the Faction Building so that the range is increased...but my game crashes when I try to use the ability.

Has anyone else thought of this idea/implemented it? If so..how'd you do it? If not...any ideas?

yeaaaaaa....i think that would be a bit of a balance issue..like bigtime heh :tard:

It wouldn't be THAT huge of a balance issue. I'd be a Superweapon just like anything else. I'd just crank the reload time on it way up so you can't use it like every 5 minutes.

Hmm, like a "virus"... you would have to make static defenses (stinger sites, bunkers etc.) immune though - would be unfair to take over one of his defenses and then waste him with it, especially one near his peon lines.

if anything have the structure just start bleeping, like its being capped, so if he is fast enough he can at least sell the thing off...it would be a super to force someone to either let the enemy cap any structure, or sell it off.....i dont think it would be easy to balance cause what if you used it on his command cntr, one use of this is more powerful then even a nuke, think about it :scared:

Now that I think about it, you're right. How is this any different for the enemy then blasting away 5 buildings with a nuke. I dunno about you, but I'd rather let him capture one of my buildings then blow up 5. You'd probably have to make superweapons immune though

okok, you would be able to balance out this new superweapon/ability by making superweapons and command centers immune...

o ya, he had a question lol....oops...well i really dont have any knowledge of working with Generals files, I was quite good with RA2/RA ini's however (back when things were more simple) :tard:
