Default Win2k Gmax Users.

I've seen a report one person cant open files saved under SP4. Though this might just be him or some other setting he's messed with, its good to bear in mind if deciding to update to SP4.

Not impossible, as some professional ppl also reported problems with certain plugins for 3dsmax caused after the installation of SP4.
