I have one mod WIP right now, but I was taking a break from it to gain some better skillz (

) and came up with this idea:
I was thinking.....you know how games are always judged by their gameplay, and mods are judged by their gfx? I think I'm going to make a war in Iraq style mod (or maybe a made up conflict) but change the Generals gameplay.
What if I made the US, with all its really powerful units, but they start at one part of the map, and make no buildings or anything. They're just an assault force to take out the Iraqi threat in the area. If they do, then they win, but if they don't manage to take it out and they lose all their units, they lose.
The Iraqis start off with some units (T72's, BMPs, SCUDS etc), but can construct a command post to build up a quick base. They can call (or maybe construct) reinforcements, so they'll have a backup supply of units, unlike the US.
Its balanced, though, because the US's units are superior, and they have an airforce.
However: the catch :/
The gfx will not be really high high quality. The models will be good though, so you can reckognize the units for what they are, but the skin will be a complete mono color skin, with black for treads. No designs or plates or anything. This will allow me to make units at a much much faster rate. I've experimented and made a few units, and I was surprised how it doesn't look that bad. The units are reckognizable, and the skins aren't incredibly ugly.
The goal of the mod would be to turn the game into a military sim. You'll have to send scouts ahead, watch your flanks, shell enemy positions with artillery , etc. Not only that, but you'll have to be careful with your units to keep them alive, as you can't just replace them.
IMO, playing a realistic military sim would by far outweigh the subpar gfx quality. But, I wouldn't be the one downloading the mod, so my opinion doesn't matter.
What do you think? Would you download it?
