Default Why does this happen??

whenever i make a mod it doesn't work
i tried putting in .big files and in the data folder both where the game is installed and a my docs one
i have also tried editing some other peoples mods with my modifications and it still doesn't work (no i wont copy other peoples mods i was just TESTING!!)

does anyone know why my mods don't work?? all i'm doing is INI editing - no w3ds or scripts etc.

Thanks,

Lt.Cmdr.Prism

You dont put the .big files in the data folder. jus the ini and stuff, you put the .big files in your generals folder. the default is:
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Command and Conquer Generals

Put your .big file in the My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data\ folder
Make sure your shortcut for the mod has this format-
Conquer Generals\generals.exe" -mod yourBigFileName.big

i have done the shortcut thing and it doesn't crash; i start a skirmish with it and it just doesn't have the stuff: eg. i made the patriot cost 800 but when i hover over it it still says 1000
and for the airfield i changed it to be 1200 but still 1000
i want to know why
it even happened when i modified some other peoples mods (just for testing purposes by the way)

open up C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command and Conquer Generals\Data\INI\Object If you do not have this folder create it. then you need to have the factionbuilding.ini. If you need to send me your factionbuilding ini and I will change it for you.

sometimes if your modname is too long in the mod shortcut the game crashes. thats what was happening to my mod, so we shortened the name of the .big file and the shortcut.
