No Grey Knights?

Personally I'm a WHFB player, but I may be picking 40K up now when the Eye of Terror has started. Why isn't there any Chaos? Maybe if you remove the Orks, but it would be hard to create Deamons. The infantry must cost a LOT more, and be much better then they are now.

There is already a Generals mod team.

http://www.gamingforums.com/forumdis...s=&forumid=489

They seem to be decent . . .
At least with 3d Vehicle Modelling

They don't seem to have . . .
Infantry models
Organization
2d Artists

I for one see little potential for a Warhammer 40k TC for Generals.

First, you must take into your account the fanbase. How many WH40k players do you know that have a top-of-the-line computers capable of playing Generals effectively? A small fraction of individuals - you'd probably need a 2.4 Ghz with 512 RAM and a GeForce 4 ti 4200 to be able to play the game (not even considering advanced particle effects of new weapons) with no slowdown - in singleplayer alone.

Second, you need to look at the Generals game engine. Honestly it's a pile of shit. It's clunky and has bad netcode. You also need to run the game at 1600x1200 for it to look decent which will probably make you lose another 6-8 FPS. And in quickmatch multiplayer the game must be run with that horrid 800x600 resolution. Online is impossible to play, why settle for lag when there are soooo many better 3d game engines.

Third you need examine the support EA gives to Generals, barely any at all, remember that singleplayer mission competition? Well they never announced a winner. Remember EA's Gen Dev site? No, that's what I thought. What about the ladder's for fan sites, weren't they supposed to be available when the game shipped? Even consider world builder, many features and some units/structures are missing from it.

Just think about it, Generals just sucks ass for modding, plain and simple. This is what my team looked at when we decided to keep modding RA2 . . . it's potential mod fanbase is larger, is technically superior, and has just about as much support (aka none).

If you want to go 3d - check out WCIII . . . It's just better - a lot better.

I say go for it. I have not really gone into deapth over 40k but I played fantasy and bought the imperial guard book, so i know a little. But I think its a good idea. If you get good/well produced models and good skins the mod will be awesome.

Definately, I say go for it. As long as you don't plan too much for yourself when you are still a n00b (read:Mongoose) you can really make some cool things.

I'll take it you don't like that team SilverMobius . . .

So did they actually get decent infantry models or did you just forget to add it to that list you corrected?
