Default Extra hellicopter for usa

ok i will say it verry easy.

I downloaded the apache v1,2 mod to make the comanche a apache.
But i dont want the comanche to be an apache, i want to have a apache and a comanche.

so this is what i did.

1) leave the comanche alone.
3) copy the comanche and paste it below that.
4) Name the copy to americavehicleapache.
5) renamed all the modelfiles.
6) found and converted a picture for the apache (tga)
7) added the picture to the blah blah blah usergameinterface or sumthing (i know i putted it at the correct spot)
7) created a new commandbutton for the apache.
8) renamed the commandsetfile.
9) created a new entry to the americaairfield for the apache.
10) created a new commandset for the apache.


NO matter what i did i just CANT add a comanche i even tried keeping away a couple of things like the picture and replace it with the original comanche.

P.S.
Before flaming me about doing something wrong i just added a Hind gunship to china without ANY problems and i did the same method with this apache but no succes just a major crash at the start of the game.

It might have gone wrong when you renamed the model files as they shouldn't be renamed. The name is also coded within the file itself which could cause problems if that one is different from the file name itself.

the only way to rename is throw the model into gmax and resave it
you wanta a apache?

About the rename models sorry i should have been more specific.

I meant that in the faction.ini i changed the models name from AVComanche to AVApache all those models i mean so sorry.

it could have something to do with the comanche code its self, as it has some odd stuff in it, such as dummy turrets and stuff, you may wnt to try using the chinook code instead, delete all the transport stuff, and give it some gunz

hmmm yes that sounds like a good idea.
Now i just have to find out how to give that converted chinook the things i want. :tard:

Maybe thats why all the new helicopters are using chinook stuff :/

Yup i found 2 bugs.

1. it seems i CAN add it to china but usa does not let me.
2. it seems also that the model does not work properly and therefore is useless for what i want to do with it.

So i ask if someone knows where i can get a apache model.
for this model (apache v1.2 does NOT work to make a totally new unit)

sorry it seems that this model whas corrupted or something and therefore i could not use it.

Though i did get my Chinees Hind to work hehehe love that baby.

Default Hind screenies please?

Daan, could you post a screenshot of your Hind please? It's one of my favourite choppers .

Some questions...

(1) Did you make your own model for it or get someone else to make it for you?

(2) Is either (a) your mod, or (b) the Hind model (and code if possible), available for public release? I'd like to put one in my mod if I can find a decent model for it (haven't found one yet. Jeebs' Hind looked good, but wasn't finished :cry: ) and working code for a gunship with transport capacity. I can't seem to combine the two so far...

sage_inferno already ID'd the problem that most of you must be experiencing. You have to import the model into GMAX and then re-export it under the different name. (ex avapache rather than avcomanche) I have dont this and added the apache to my generals with no problem. This was when I was running on v1.5 and then I had to reinstall the game. I found that the model does not work with just the base install though, the model bounces up and down off the ground and the body rotates instead of the rotor. Quite odd, but it does work otherwise just fine for me.

1. the hind is a model from someone else i will first habe to check if i am allowed to release it to others.

2. how the hell do i import it into GMax it seems it cant import w3d?
