Default Oh Great!

Well, recently a mod had screwed up my Battlefield 1942 game. So I had to re-install the game. Upon doing this the dumbass programmers at DICE deleted all the registry entries under EA Games so now my Generals registry entries are gone. I have since looked at my old machine to see what the registry entries were and I've put them back, but now whenever I try to play Generals the anti-piracy safety feature kicks in and all my buildings auto explode after a certain time. F*cking bastards at DICE. Anybody know how I can fix this without re-installing Generals? This will greatly hinder my ability to work on Second Wave because I can no longer test anything. Goddamn, why does EA have to control everything

Go to uninstall and choose repair..it will reenter the registry info if it is missing.

Thx RV, but I re-entered all the correct registry keys and entries myself as I have another machine with Generals on it so I looked at that, but the explosion thing still happens. I'll try that repair thing. Hopefully I don't have to uninstall.

This is what I do so a mod will never screw me over. Once you get it running again and stuff, copy all the files in the directory into a backup folder. If a mod screws you over again you will have a backup.

Read my message. It wasnt a mod that screwed me over. It was uninstalling BF1942. Damn EA is bucnh of dumb shit heads and put all their games under the same registry key. Anyways, repairing it worked, thx RVMECH.

If you will link 2 com via lan using the same serial number, generals will not work properly. Try to reinstall it again and use a diff. serial.

What!? How am I supposed to get a new serial number? And what are you talking about? Why would I not be able to re-install with the same serial number? Whaaa!?
Oh and repairing did work, but I ran my Launcher and it will auto detect if you do not at least have version 1.4 and it said I didn't. So I checked my registry entires and the version DWORD value was 10000 so I changed it to 10006. That stopped the launcher warnings, but how will it affect my game? Did repairing overwrite the Generals ini files, etc. and re-aply version 1.0 and will manually changing the reg value affect the piracy detector in Generals?
