Default Helpl with chilliskinner

I'm currently doing the chilliskinner tutorial. But now i have a problem with the tutorial: Step 47:
In MAX's Material Editor, select a new material and at the bottom under it's 'Maps' rollout, check the 'Diffuse' checkbox and click the 'Map' button on the right of it Choose 'Bitmap' as the map type and browse and select the bitmap you just saved from the previous step. Now drag and drop the new material on top of your object. --------- How can i get a new material? And maybe someone could explain this step a bit more cause when i do this, i get a ball with around it the 'skin' (wich isn't a skin yet) and when I drop it over the the truck, the truck becomes the color of how the ball was (like red).

That's not the problem, the skin is already finished. The only problem is how to apply the skin read ^^^^^^^^^^^.

But thanks, at least someone who's helping

Select the mesh you wish to apply the skin to. Make sure you have it completely selected & not have it in sub object level.

Press M ( material editor ), either create or select your material.

"Apply" should not be ghosted aslong as you have the mesh selected. Now press Apply.

or..

Drag the sphere displaying your material onto the mesh where the cursor turns into a thick cross ( more like a + actually ) and let go.

If its not applying there you've done something wrong. And need to explain the problem better.

Umm, if your want to see a texture in the viewport you have to click the little blue and white checkered box ( with the tool tip "Show Map In View Port" ).

Obviously you havent read or done the tutorials that come with 3DSMax. I would suggest you go back and learn the basics and do atleast do the first few tutorials.

It looks "that good" because it was rendered in 3DSMax, gmax has no render ability.
