Default Proposal: Universal Generals INI help format

I finished the TibEd 2 helpfile format and it's going to look like this:

Code:
<resources languagenode="languages" default="e">
  <languages>
    <e name="English" />
  </languages>
  <generals>
    <object>
      <displayname>
        <e>DisplayName property</e>
      </displayname>
    </object>
  </generals>
</resources>
Basically, it's an XML file, and the <e> tag is for a specific language. I'm going to look for a decent XML editor now (Notepad is not very handy) and then I'm going to convert the INI file research thread into something like this, I think.

This XML file is basically a 'tagged' file format, much like HTML. The nested tags form a 'tree', and because of that the help can be 'grouped' more or less. Internet Explorer does a good job of showing the tree structure of a XML file.
It messes up the linebreaks inside help text though, they don't show up right in IE but they do for the 'users' (like TibEd 2).
I've attached the current alpha 9 version of the help file, this is converted from the INI file research thread. But don't start converting other ini's because I have a special program for that which does it pretty fast
Modifying existing texts is not a problem and adding new keys for existing ini's is ok too.
The Draw module of Factionunit isn't done yet (intenionally), I don't know how to properly organize this.
The <e></e> tag is to specify language, and e is English. This allows room for translations.

I didn't find a good editor and the formatting of this file is a bit of a mess, haven't found a formatter either

Edit: attaching didn't work, here is a link: http://www.tibed.net/beta/generals_help.xml

I like it. Simple enough, I'll see what I can do with the old programmers docs but pretty much all of them were done in Excel (made it easier to look up tags and where theyre used in relation to others).

Just make sure that multiple people don't work on it at the same time.
And I've written a small utility which converts
tag text
into the corresponding xml
<tag><e>(text)</e></tag>
So that's very fast to convert the INI file research thread. Should I post it?
Just as long as you convert & and stuff like that to & (like HTML).

I'll add some stuff to it, once it's posted.

I've updated it to revision 2:
http://www.tibed.net/beta/generals_help.xml (bad layout)
and with good layout:
http://www.tibed.net/beta/generals_help_formatted.xml
(I've formatted it with http://homepage.ntlworld.com/wayne_g...formatter.html there, looks better).

The formatted version looks much better, so I suggest you use it, but indentation I had in the original file in some places was 'auto-formatted' away. Not really a problem, just have to fix some indentation issues in TibEd now .

I will not work on this file during the next 5 days.
