i have a 1.2 ghz xp, geforce 2 ultra and 256 megs ram.

Zero hour runs a bit slower in-game, like 5 frames slower or so, but only when there's a lot of units on-screen.

But it loads so slowly, so very slowly. and get this, it takes as long to quit the game as it does to start it.

What was your previous video card and what are your current processor and RAM specs?

My previous video card doesn't matter. The point was Zero hour runs much better for me on the same system than generals did.

It's a P4 2.4B, Samsung DDR333 (PC2700).

Dude you can run it at 1024*768 with all options maxed on that craptacular computer? What's your average FPS during gameplay?

If my Pentium II 450 MHz, 196 MB SDRAM, 32MB GeForce2 can run Generals, yours damn well should! As for the Celeron, it must be the core. Celerons are normally slow pieces of sh** when it comes to stuff like that. My friend use to have a sweet graphics card, tons of RAM, and a Celeron 1.1 GHz, and Generals ran like abolute crap! It ran better on mine with the High setting than it did on his with the Low settng!

Celeron
2.5 ghz
512 RAM
64MB Radeon gfx card

runs perfect on low and medium, haven't tried high yet

Celeron gets such a bad rap. You can save almost 200 bux sometimes by getting celeron rather than p4, and it isn't that much worse.

it runs smooth
i have cored xp to the ram for extra speed and dont use pagefile.
Texture compression is high on the videocard for extra relief on the cpu.

only reason i didnt get the celeron based on the p4 core is the low 128kb L2-cashe.
im waiting for a 256kb version.

Still what's your average FPS when playing Generals? Smooth to you may be 25 FPS, smooth to me is 35 FPS . . .
