HOW? Build Civilian cars from Arms Dealer

Now my idea is this:
Terrorists are pretty crap by themselves, they need vehicles to kamikaze in. Most maps don't have enough civilian cars if any to last more than a couple of terrorist attacks. I want to build civilian cars from a GLA structure so that terrorists can use them.

I want to make a new building called a 'Car Yard' or something which will make civilian cars only. I think door animations and so on are beyond me, but thats the idea. Civilian cars from the war factory/arms dealer just wouldn't be right, so its a new building.

So is it possible - GLA owned building makes civilian cars?

just make a sudecide script in the factionunit and replace the model into a civ car

You could make it where you can build a civilian car that comes with a terrorist in it. look at the technical code for how to make it have different models for cars so they are not all the same. not sure how to do all this but shouldnt be too hard i dont think.

The idea was that there aren't enough civilian cars on maps for terrorists, so I would have a building that made them.
I do not want to make just another suicide unit.
The technical script to get a random car from a selection, I will look into it.

The building that made civilian cars would be use a civilian structure model that looked like a car dealer - because thats what the building would be. A car sales yard. I dunno what ya've got in the US, but here we don't get terrorists free with our cars .

The question remains: can I build a Civilian team unit from a GLA team building?

Yes, I am new to this, I started modding Generals 4 days ago, but I have already successfully modified the humvee and created a new unit based on the humvee that has different weapons, cost, armour, etc and builds from the USA war factory. At this point I want to expand to making a structure, but want it to serve some plausible purpose. A car sales yard where you buy cheap cars for terrorists seemed like a good starting point. In Generals terrorists are pretty much the only customers it could serve, but it should be interesting.

Can I build civilian team units from a GLA team building?

Generals doesnt think of units as belonging to teams, they only have the SIDE: reference for world builder sorting. If you create a button that builds the civilian unit and place it in the GLA buildings command set, it should work nearly like you want... I think it wont be a civilian unit however ( like the cars sitting around maps ) , it will be controlled by the player, so you might need to fix that if you intend to get it working perfect...

What's the use of Civilian cars when you can build them motorcycles?

i dont think you can, because the second that YOU the player builds it, it becomes yours. You can't build neutral units.

No, but how about this wild idea:

The cars are built with some OCL logic that creates a different object together with the car. The object instantly dies, and then fires a weapon which uses the KILL_PILOT damage type to make the car neutral.

you would need to give it a maximum lifetime before the kill_pilot damage happens or it will go nuetral in the building right after it is built but a good idea though.
