Default Want to start modelling, need some help

Well, I downloaded gmax, and there was also this script that opens w3d files so got that too. But I've also heard about this RenX thing. Will I need this if I want to make my own w3d-models? And is it a stand-alone program or does it require gmax itself (if it's stand-alone I'm going to scream for downloading 18 MB on 56k for nothing :irked: )? And, last question, where can I get RenX if I do need it?

And BTW, don't go mad and tell me to use the search function. I DID, but that still didn't answer my questions. So please answer them here.

Hi ImmoMan,

you downloaded the right program, Gmax is the 3D Modeling tool you need to create your own models. But you also need the gamepack released by Westwood called RenX to be able to export into the w3d format C6C Generals uses. You can download it here:

ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/renegade/...Installer2.exe

1. First you install Gmax
2. Then you install RenX which is automatically installed into Gmax' folder since it uses the program as basis
3. Install the script to import the w3d models

After all that you should be able to create your own models and export them to a w3d file.

Hope I helped you, and good luck!

Allright, was a bit confused there but now I understand it. Gmax makes the models, and the script just reads the w3d-files. To actually make your own w3ds you need RenX. Ouch, another 23 MB , that's gonna hurt! Bit strange though that the add-on is bigger than the tool itself

But thanks for the info!
