Ya, but the funny thing is the Soviet shuttles where bigger and better. They could carry more, take off and land on auto pilot. Plus they only had one booster and it was reuseable vs the US's 3 boosers. The biggest of witch (the red one) is lost after each launch and a new has to be made.
I heard something about the US having a plane that could circle the earth in 3 hours. I think is ture cas calculated out that is mach 33.5 witch I then divied til I got the miles per second; 6.8. Thats the speed needed to break the earth gravity and fly into space
