I think flyby put it best in the thread.

As for my own comments on this, I wouldn't have a problem if one of these ww2 mods actually did something past a month. The problem is that nearly every time, we see the big "I'm making a ww2 mod!" post; it shows off 3-5 new shots(not even that usually...its usually renders or w3d shots), explains an overly ambitious schedule and plan, and asks for help. A month later, at best...there is 1 new model to be seen. A month after that, it is completely gone, or process has been ground to a halt. [this isn't just for ww2 mods, this goes for nearly every new tc started]

Not only does the main mod posted about not get anywhere near finished but you sucked up modelers/skinners/etc for the mod...and they usually don't float off to other mods, they just quit once the mod fails. This harms other mods in the community. I would much rather you guys help Blitz2(or fallout, world crisis, etc.) instead of watching another train wreck happen.

And yes I know "your mod won't fail, it'll last"...everyone says that.

--------------------------------------------------on the other side of the issue

If you are really into this, and want to make it work...more power to you. I have a few suggestions though.

-Merging with other mods(as you already started) is one of the best things for you to do...not that it really adds to your team size overall. Back when we first formed Blitz1...it was 3 ww2 mods(plus a few outsiders like myself) that merged into one. That may sound like a lot of team members, but in the end only the most dedicated stayed around...and it made all the difference. You guys should try to merge with that other ww2 mod, it'll make you stronger.

-Do something different, european ww2 mods are all too common. Why don't you stick with what Pacific Front was doing? Then later add in europe? Start off with just the US and Japanese...ground units only, then add in aircraft, then boats. After that add in the british(which would include australia). And after that you can start thinking about adding germany and russia. Not only does this give you a clear set of goals, but it lets you release quicker and keeps up momentum(very important).

-Have a solid design document...listing the overall goal of your mod, and the units. Don't change things up all the time...that only makes things harder.

-Be realistic at how much work can get done. This is something I have a huge problem with and need to work on.

-----------------------
Again, I really doubt that you will get anywhere near release and would much rather you join up with us...but if not good luck.

95% of all mods fail.

i was the one who proposed the merger idea to freefall. he accepted because he knew that both of our mods were going to be killed by blitz. i thought it would be a fantastic idea. we would have double the amount of sides, and the quality of the materials we produce would go up. i was planning on expanding into europe after i was finished in the pacific, so i thought it would work out well if we merged.

and i seriously doubt this will fail. freefall is angry and now motiavated to prove you all wrong.

You didn't get my point , did you?
The Blitz team is not out to kill your or any other mod, but if you go on the crash course you're going to kill yourselves...

The most logical choice would be to help out with the one that is nearly done.

Ok, if you don't want to do that...at least convince that other ww2 mod floating around there to merge with you guys. They have a topic over at sliepners(sp?)...
hmm this sounds familiar...

dude i understand what you are saying. you are sick of all the world war 2 mods showing up, when they don't last anyway. and i never said the blitz team was trying out to take out other ww2 mods, although it seems to be what you are trying to do now.

I think you don't understand the meaning of the word killed. When we say that we're get killed, we mean that we're going to get nothing right compared with the BlitzII mod.
It has nothing to do with getting killed.

OT: lol python, I think we are an exception.... even though there is another 40k mod......

Theres is not going to be much of a total conversion.... its just gonna be generals with new units =P

+ they are led by an arrogant 13 year old, who wont accept others ideas

It was harming our mod WAY too much when we merged.... and ALL they have is some nice space marine models......

just like this ww2 mod has some nice factory models maybe...... but the units are crap (no offence..... I like the german artillery)

Our mod IS moving forward and wont end in a train wreck you know why? mainly cos of people like kained, who are so into this and so OUT there, seemingly doing everything because he obviously loves the mod so much. - Oh and Rowley Creds to you for all the coding...... you are the reason the other mod wanted to merge in the first place

P.S: guys do what smurf said..... maybe smurf could even employ you to make some kinda... pacific stuff, that they may or may not use later.....
we have such a "free lancer" who is making us the eldar =)
