Default Zero Hour

I played Zero Hour, a lot actually.

I did a record attempt to finish this game in one go, but I id get bored after 10 hours and 15 minutes.

After that I played it again and finished the rest.

I also played a lot of multiplay games and me and my buddies are completely wild of this game.

I can't really say anything is so redicilously overpowerd that I can't stop it. There are a lot of new tactics to use, and a lot of new tactics to break.

There are only two things missing in this game:

1) a more explanative single player; I like dthe way the single player explains all the units in a very detailed manner, the pros and cons

2) a coop mode. I know, I'm complaining about nothing, but that's to show you guys I really can't think of anything else.

And the only thing really bugging me is the way the GLA got underpowered, but I should say they require more tactics to play. They aren't easy, but there are definitely winning strategies with them.

In other words (and yes, they've been said before but I would've said it if they weren't said anyways (ouch my brain)): This is the game Generals should have been.

Good luck modding and lots of fun playing!

The GLA haven't been underpowered. If anything they have been made even more of a match against China and the US.

I mean look at the Combat Cycle. Load up some terrorists on some Cycles and boom instant devastation. The Cycle is also one of the few units that is almost all-terrian. The ability for the cycles to just come down over a cliff out of nowhere and suprise you is great. Great for hit and run (espically against Battlemasters). The Cycle is definately a match for almost any units on any of the other teams.

The Battle Bus is another of the evening forces. I mean first you have a humvee (in a way) and then when it gets destroyed you get a building. I mean a great tactic (That I have used on numerous occasions) is poistioning my Buses so that when they get destroyed they create a wall effect. Loaded with RPG troopers, you've got quite a wall. Once again a great evening force for the GLA.

Seriously I have to hand it to EA. I personally say well done to them. When the patches came out (for Normal Gen.) it put many people off playing the GLA. Now EA has realised the problems that have been created. Therefore they fixed it when they made Zero Hour. I like the fact that I can hide my defenses and then pull a force of fully upgraded Maruaders out of nowhere and catch my enemies off guard.

It all comes down to opinion and what you think, but IMO the GLA have been transformed into a force. One that gives the other 2 factions a run for it's money

On the co-op mode I agree. I loved playing the Co-Op YR campaigns and wish it was the same in Generals, but hey no-one is perfect.

Happy Gaming

I sure as heckfire loved to load up 8 batlle busses with RPG dudes and pull a sneak attack on the AI right in the back of his base.

8 fully loaded busses in his base, when they exploded they became bunkers, and when they were almost destroyed i evacuated them.

80 RPG in his base was certain death

He is way underpowered against the Laser General. Faced him in challenge mode, only 2 out of all the jets he sent got past my defense.

For each Strength there is a major weakness, I don't understand why people don't see this.

Take Granger. He rules the sky but gets utterly owned against everything else. Remember the King Raptor can only shoot down missiles, the Quad Cannon and Gattling Tank will be fine against him. If your U.S. Use 1 or 2 Avengers.

Townes. Townes has a great ability in his laser forces as they are basically strong against everything. However, his lacks the standard assault tanks of the norm. A humvee or 2 with Missile Defenders or a few Paladins make short work of Townes.

Alexander. Alexis' strengths are in her defenses. The EMP Patriot with a few firebases make short work of anything, however she lacks assault abilites. A few Humvee's loaded with Infantry will get past Alexander (even if she EMP's you, release your infantry and knock out the turrets with those. That or use Auroa's which the EMP's can't hit.

Hun Kwai. Powerful yes in takes, but his air and infantry are lacking greatly. Easily matched by the GLA and US. His biggest weakness is the fact that he simply sticks to tanks. Modify your strategy to anything else like air and you'll rule the day. If your the GLA, the Terrorist Combat Cycle is a great defense.

Shi Tao. He's specialsed in Nuclear weaponry meaning you have an early game advantage. Tao also isn't a major "special general" like Granger, Alexander or Townes. He's fairly even so any tactic will work with him.

Shin Fai. Majorly infantry orientated so therefore you have a strength in your tanks. However his unique units (including the Helix 2) are a threat, so you need to take his units into account when assualting his base. A few Gattling Tanks will do fine.

Prince Kassad. Because you can't see him, means he has an advantage in normal combat. However, because he doesn't have the use of tanks, you have an advantage in your ability to "steamroll" Kassad. A good match of stealth -vs- strength.

Dr. Thrax. Because the good doc is toxinised means that most conventions will have to be re-orientated. The good thing though is that some units are less effective because they are toxic. Therefore Dragon Tanks for example are far more effective than normal because Thrax is all toxin. There are at least 3 counters to Thrax.

"Demo" Juhziz. Strong in his demolition abilites but lacking in the toxins. The best effective counter to Juhziz is to use ranged weapons. Because demolition weapons require close range to do damage, any ranged weapon will do the trick.

Oh BTW, regarding the Laser -vs- Air Force Generals. Townes, weapons require a great amount of power. Simply send Aurora's into the power plants. Without the power plants the laser weapons are offline and Avengers can't do anything against vehicles.

Hope it helps you all in choosing your general. When it comes to side generals. I usually go for

US - Alexis Alexander
China - Ta Hun Kwai
GLA - Rodall "Demo" Juhziz

just playing devil's advocate here.... king raptors can easily take out avengers...you may or may not loose some KRs, but the net loss will be higher on the defender's side unless you're stupid enough to just fly them over the avengers without taking them out first

firebases work pretty well against infantry once they stand still to fire, and those EMPPats really should be backed up by flashbang rangers or better yet pathfinders. As for Auroras...unless you manage to take out enough power plants to power down her base, not a single Aurora is making it out of there alive....and thats a costly way to play....

I've beaten every General on Hard. With all due respect Kaldak, I think I know what I am talking about. Oh each US General never had below 60K, China 35K and GLA 23K

oh, well yeah, if you're talking about against the computer.....it tends to leave itself open to certian strategies....

but human players usually dont fly King Raptors over avengers to try to attack the warfactory behind them, or turtle using only EMT Pats for defense....
