When you install a new VC driver, pls. uninstall the existing one or else your computer will crash. Go to your Control Panel, then go to ADD/REMOVE, then uninstall the VC driver, restart your comp., then install a new VC driver.
When you edit your post, pls. don't remove all your messages. :lol:

All those two messages were was a giant C++ implementation file. I don't think anyone needed to see them. Make sure that you find the latest stable drivers. You're probably best off looking at the official Radeon site.

i had installed catylist 3.8 brand new driver for it, not helping, the game starts out without showing the construction yard, it just shows a hit point bar till you move the mouse. it also only shows the gun on the artillery tech bldg. on the screen that you choose you skirmish players, the background cinema of the beach bombardment the coastline is choppy like if the map you make on worldbuilder has 2 different terrain like sand to grass, are not blended, thus showing the rough edges or blocky edges.
Im at a loss on how to fig it out

Make sure you used VC driver for XP os, and not for win98. If diff. driver did not solve it, try uninstalling both gen and ZH, then just install gen. If gen works fine, then install ZH and it should work fine also. Just make sure you installed it at the right directory(default dir). If it didn't work again, maybe you should use win98 Operating System, it's much stable or just ask a friend to personally fix your comp. :lol:

I'm a comp. technician and installed win98 and XP a hundred times. If you're using a new comp. then no problem w/ XP, but some older MB and VC doesn't really work best w/ XP. I tested a duron800, 256mb sd using win98SE and XP(w/ service pack), generals quite run smoothly and faster on win98SE. Also, some VC just don't run well on XP. You may run generals fine but you may have some problem running nbalive2003 or other games, while win98 can run most games w/ most drivers.
If you have a high end comp w/ lots of memory, then use XP coz I personally use XP-pro w/ no problem, but w/ a little experience in setting up a comp. like "Monkeybrain", then win98SE would be a good alternative.

ok, first of all thanks for all of your help(MUCH APPRECIATED) second, i have win xp athlon 1.8 gig running 512 ram, i have all in wonder 8500 vid card from radeon that is straight out of hell, i have went back and forth from the cd i had in the box that came with it, and then to the newest 3.8 catalyst drivers for xp. ive been trying to find how to disable antializing but they combined the opengl and d3d into a locked system where i cannot find how to totally disable it. ive tried to turn off heat effects and other vid options---this to no avail. my directx is at version 9 and it still is terrible on performance, the game locks after about 5-10 min, and the game graphics are distorted as in not showing all the models. terrain is blocky and the graphics for building doesnt even show till i move the mouse the artilery tech bldg blinks in the main structure of it , only the barrel shows constant. im going to gut my system and clean the registry and see if that works and reinstall.

disable antializing in ccg?
thats easy
Antalising=0
in options.ini should be in the my documemts folder where ccg stores maps and savefiles
you got a radeon? use this tool for advanced grafics cofiguration

i see u use athlon maybe downloading the lastest chipset drivers for your motherboard can help reducing errors.
