hmmm...not sure if you intended them as ready to use pictures, but you forgot they need to be square to get accepted by the engine..

Square, as in height = width.

If you want to use textures in *.dds format they have to be 64x64, 128x128, 256x256, 512x512, etc...

Because the *.dds compression format was specially developed for games in a DX environment

From Nvidia papers:
Quote:
....in conjunction with the EXT_texture_compression_s3tc extension offers a tremendous boost for the rendering pipeline at different levels:
• Faster rendering
• Lower texture memory requirements
• Faster texture downloads into texture memory
• Lower disk space requirements for storage and faster disk access.
Additionally, the use of compress textures allows the application to utilize higher resolution textures with the same memory footprint.
The Targa format (*.tga) is an older graphic format, mostly used for broadcasting, as it has excellent color quality including an alpha channel...

I could be wrong, but Im sure the dev team said that the textures did not have to be square, but the dimensions (width and height) both had to be a power of two because of the rendering algorithm - so you could have 256x512.

Could be wrong now, but thats how it was in the alpha days, and I do know that square textures reder faster anyways because the algorithm works best on squares rather than other polygons.

I stand correct Deezire.
I've just tried it out and you can indeed have it non-square.
But if you don't have it in resolution of the power of 2, the DDS file will not save...
