Default Airplane Pickbox

Okey so i got gmax and all the stuff that i need to edit models.

Now i loaded up the mig and gave it a new skin, the skin works fine and all but i want to know whats the use of that thing called PICKBOX around the mig?

1. Whats the use of it?
2. And how do i make it invisible ingame it keeps showing up as a cloudy irritating thing, or as a big block covering my mig?

1) The pickbox was originally going to be the area you could select the jet with, because aircraft move so fast, it'd be easier to target one if the selection range was more forgiving

2) Put an alpha channel texture over it. All black (look at the muzzle flash)

Look under geometry options, on the W3D tool in the Gmax utillity tab.
Hit the "hide" option...

I think my way would work also, even though its more effort then necassary. I'm not completely sure about the properties of alpha channels yet though, so I could be wrong

alpha channel use much memory in game.
you shouldn't use where it don't need.
(as it said in documents I have read)

Yeah, you can just hide the geometry by unchecking the export geometry option. Much less memory intensive.

Bzzzzttt! Wrong answer. In W3D tools, check the AABox checkbox.

We're both correct, depending on what you want to do with it :

from the renegade docs :

AABox = This mesh is to be used as an axis aligned collision box.
Hide = Use this option to make your geometry hidden, e.g. a bounding box.
