Default Tesla weapon

Has anyone created a realistic tesla/electrical weapon effect? Something close to the old tesla weapon in RedAlert... If anyone has a good one post a screen shot or something because i'm not having much success in creating a good one...

I know someone who is working on it...but won't post anything unless he gives the ok. Anyways, it works pretty good from what I've seen so far(not perfect yet...close though).

Every time i've seen one its been nothing more than an edited laser... i've tried creating one but its difficult for me to replicate the movement of the tesla coil's weapon

as far as i know you can use textures on lasers too, someone used that on a "prism" beam once, to make a very nice looking one.

try to do that. (btw look at the binary stream beam from the Black lotus to see how its done)

Give it up. I tried for 20 hours almost non-stop, and failed. DZ and Sleipnir both gave me suggestions, and it failed using anything else then a laser.

ive tried it, and it worked. not 100% accurte, but it was a recognizable tesla beam. it has to be an edited laser, theres simply no other way. i made a new texture in photoshop, created a new bluish laser and gave it to the GLA rebels (a tad unrealistic, but id like to see my people with cool weapons for once!) ill try to put up some screenshots soon

well I might beable t otry it when I get free time. Create a new laser like "thearab" but then create a particle and overlap it. cand make it create a few but make the weapon very quick.

Just an idea, but use the missile defender missile exhasut with a texture which looks like an electric bolt. That might work.

I think lasers are the only way to do it.
