Default realistic generals skin?

I was thinking why there is no modder around who would want to give every units in generals a more realistic look by reskinning them? I think EA made them cartoonish so they could get pass ESRB. Thought it would be a pretty neat project for you decent skinners out there.

You seem to be missing the point, imo there arn't more than a handful of "decent skinners" who could do skins like that. Making skins in the style of the generals units is very easy to do, and requires little skill.

Yeah, this may be a little out of topic, but is there any FREE program out there that lets u open TGA files and re-skin them?

Or what do u suggest I do...

if you are going to skin, use photoshop....5, 6, 7 any will do

get ahold of it by any means nessicary

Paintshop Pro (www.jasc.com) will do nicely, and they have a 30 day demo...
You can use most of the Photoshop plugins with it, including the *.dds exporter...
Just like PS, you can use layers, work with saved selectionsets etc...

I don't think my B17 skin, done with PSP, looked that bad, no Smurf?

My skins don't pass as "realistic" but most of my skins look alot better than EA's when seen from a distance. Sorry, no pics.

PSP sucks, in the fact that you cant create alpha channels, plus Photoshop gives you alot more effects options etc.

GIMP <-- Free, Open Source, Penguin friendly.

Not as good as Photoshop but mine is legit, the only way I'd have it.
