Default Skin application problem..

I'm having a problem in gmax when i am applying a skin.

When i apply the skin to the model, it does not appear on the model, however if i check the 'edit planar map' window, it says i have applied it.

It's kind of weird to understand.. but does anybody know what has happened? and more importantly, how i can fix it?

Maybe this helps:

1. Create your model

2. Open up material editor (shortcut = m)

3. type in a name (not necessary but useful)

4. select "Pass 1"

5. select "Textures"

6. check "Stage 0 Texture"

7. click on "None" and select your texture file (note: TGA files need to be in 24 bit and uncompressed)

8. click "Assign Material to Selection"

9. click "Display"

It should work now. Hope that helped.

Sorry, it didn't work. Eradicator is having the same problem.

They're infantry models, built off the ranger, if that helps.

We know how to apply skins. I've done it plenty of times as has tanka most likely. But these infantry models based off an imported ranger don't want to take a skin for some reason I can drag the skin from the material navigator onto the model, but it doesn't show up

I think I may be having the same problem. I have received a skin for a drone model from my team's skinner but when I apply it to the model he sent me it doesn't work. It works for him and for some other people though :S

Sorry for being too instructive, sometimes people forget some small detail and the thing is completely messed up. Just trying to help as good as I can :-)

Its no problem.

BTW I also tried your method above and it didn't work. I tried a texture I know is working on another mdoel so its not the texture, its the model.

Does the fact that its an infantry model mean anything? Is the skin applied differently?

It's not the fact that its an infantry model as I seem to be having the exact same problem with my gun drone model (which is a vehicle )
