This shadow error occurs when the model has a small polygon error. Look for polygons / vertices that are not visible from the outside of the model and delete them, look for polygons / vertices that are misplaced.

My suggestion would be to break the model up into smaller parts and localize the part with the error. I always take my model, break it into several parts, hide some parts and test them out in WorldBuilder. When there is no wrong shadow I name this part OK and continue until I find the buggy part. Then look for parts of the model that don't look correct or for parts of the model that aren't visible from the outside but still have faces and polygons. That should do the trick.

P.S. Sometimes everything seems fine and just some parts of the model give that strange shadows. The main point is to isolate the buggy part and than correct it.

Good luck and I hope that helped :-)
