Default Modifying image mapped onto command center for each general?

I'm just wondering if anyone has attempted to create a custom image for a new general they have created and get that mapped to the command center like the normal generals (air force and so forth). If so could you please post how you did this as I'm going to create my own mod and I would like to do this. I have found a reference in the PlayerTemplate.ini file that might be what I need to change however I'm not sure how these are reference by the game.

Entry is:
PlayerTemplate FactionAmericaAirForceGeneral
...
--> GeneralImage = USA_Air
...
End

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You need to change the model for their command center so it uses a new texture image for its logo. This is why every General has their own command center model instead of sharing the same one. The texture images for the command centers logos are all ZHCA_whatever named TGA files.

Thanks For you help.

So am I to assume that I would need to edit the model and I'm not just able to rename it and it's associated files?

Any ideas how I would go about editing the files?

Thanks.

You import it into GMAX/RENX using a W3D importer tool, which I think you can find a copy at GenDev, not sure.

And then you have to edit the material, or skin, that is applied to the model to match your new skin.

Ok I have gmax/renx and I can load a command center into there how do I go about changing the image file for the logo in the model?

I'm not really experienced at using gmax/renx.

Also how do I then save it as another name?

Also not really on topic but is the process the same for infantry as I want to use a custom skin the someone created for the pathfinder but I want it to be called a different name so that I can still have the standard pathfinder in the game.

Thanks for any help.

If you can find where the logos are, you can just modify those files, and not have to re-export, but that only works if you are not leaving the other generals in game. Otherwise, you need to use the material editor to change the files that are referenced. Find the plane that has the logo on it (hopefully it is just a plane), and you can then hit M to bring up the material navigator, and change the file that is referenced in the third? tab. After that, it should all work out.

Thanks all that helped. I can now customise the command centers when I need to.

Hope this helps other people as well.
