Drones for Structures
Is it possible to build drones (scout, battle, hellfire) for structures?
I tried it, but when I build the unit, the game crashes to the desktop. I am starting to think that it was hardcoded to not be able to do that.
Can anybody confirm or offer me any assistance in this case?

I've tried to do the very same thing, to add a sentry drone fly around a building, but it crashed and I couldn't get it to work.
It seems very possible, but yet I don't know how to do it. Any luck with it would be appreciated. I want my Air Interceptor Radar to work!

Well, first I was going to make a unit Guardian Drone using the solodrone model from Zero Hour. The Model is just like a Battl Drone, only it's shape is a little different, and it has sirens on it. (<-- MY IDEA PEOPLE, LOL)
Anyways, that didn't work, because when the unit got built, the game crashed. Then I tried to add just a scout drone to the building, but with the same result, the game CRASHES WHEN UNIT IS BUILT.
I followed the examples of all the other drones, so I don't know what the problem is.
Is this possible?
Anybody? Deezire? The help we could get would really appreciate any help, I'll try to experiment with this thingy myself.

As flyby would say...OBJECT ORIENTED PROGRAMMING, quit thinking along the lines of things being restricted to structure, infantry, vehicle, etc.
I am almost certain that it is possible...but lack the time to do it myself(nor do I have a real reason to).

If you think about it, it HAS to be OK.
What I think it's made only for VEHICLE in some file or it's hardcoded.
If we can find that file, we can easily change the VEHICLE to STRUCTURE and voila!
I wis it was that easy thou. lol
Pretty interesting idea, if you think about it thou, would really add to USA's structure defense.
For example, then if a Strategy Center has a scout drone, I wouldnt need to constantly put a humvee with scout drone newar it, and Burton wouldn't be able to blow it.

A thought, because a unit is constantly moving the game engine is constantly updating its postion. The drone would use this data in order not to stray to far from its master. The structures being stationary do not constantly update their postion, and as such when the engine searches for the data and its missing it crashes.
*but thats jsut a guess*
