Default Locomotives in ZH have WEAK amount smoke from stack..WTF?!!?

This is a weird one but true! For some odd reason the particle emitter EA put on top of the smoke stack for the locomotives in ZH are WEAK! Only a small trickle of smoke and it looks AWFUL! Generals locomotives had a HUGE mass of smoke set in its particle emitters and looked very real. Did anyone notice this yet? Would there be a way to set it back to how it was? Or would that take a mod to do it?...& if so, is it possible? I'd REALLY appreciate anyones help

The same reason why they changed the tree's a bit, to increase game performance...lots of little changes like that results in zh running much smoother than generals.

A mod can easily put that back. I've havne't attempted it, but it seems very possible as I've dealt with other particle emitters.

Yep, it's just a ParticleSystem, ParticleSysBone = <bone> <particle system> (SteamLarge is quite intensive)

where is this "ParticleSysBone = <bone> <particle system>". I opened the .ini in the big extractor and found the partice.ini with the 3 different locomotive smoke parameters (left/right/& locomotive). But I am not sure where that other thing you mentioned is. Do I change this stuff and then somehow just compress it back into the big .ini file for ZH?

No! Don't compress it back into the inizh.big!

You've got to put all ini files in Generals Zero Hour\Data\Ini

if the Ini folder doesn't exist, create it.

The line I mentioned is in civilianunit.ini under TrainEngine,
under the model there are two lines:
ParticleSysBone = Smoke01 LocomotiveSteam
;ParticleSysBone = Steam02 LocomotiveSteam
;ParticleSysBone = Steam03 DozerSmokeHeavy

the last two are, as you can see, commented out.

Smoke01 is a bone in the model, LocomotiveSteam is located in the particlesystem.ini

!!!!THAT DID IT!!! HAHAAA! Thanks Mithril! It was VERY clear in the original generals "particlesystem.ini" the size was CLEARLY larger than the zero hour locomotive smoke particle. You don't even need to touch the civilianunit.ini file.

Generals "ParticleSystem LocomotiveSteam" setting:

Size = 3.00 5.00
SizeRate = 2.00 2.00

Generals ZH "ParticleSystem LocomotiveSteam" setting:

Size = 1.00 1.00
SizeRate = .20 .20

.........so I just set ZH particle for the loco. back to its original setting. Guys you should try this!! It looks so much better and takes only a few minutes to do :lol: I also changed the RGB setting to 165 for each to make it look more black/gray like coal burning...it was still too white/clean at 255 RGB.
