Default World Builder and adding new sides...

I added new sides and removed some, but world builder still only adds the default set of sides when I click "add skirmish players". So why doesn't WB recognise the changes? This is in ZH BTW.

DEAD WRONG..bad info...If the new sides are coded correctly you can use them and script them in WB.
If you want to use your new side simply place a new sided unit on the map and a pop-up will appear asking you which faction it is for. It will place a folder for you in the scripts editor and list your new side in the player list.

Ah, RVMECH, while you are there,
can you tell me if it is possible to make that process of "adding the new faction to a map" automatic?

So that you won't have to add every side manually to a new map.

P.S. Sorry for temporarily hijacking this topic ImmoMan

I hit this prob too. I could never get the game (well WB at least) to make use of an entirely new side (e.g. the Boss general). Im sure theres an internal listing that it sticks to. For some reason, adding a new side does not automatically qualify it as an available SkirmishSide and thus you cant script for it in WB. The only viable alternative is to modify (replace) an existing one.

Unless of course RV knows better

Saying all that, when I first hit the 'side list is screwed when you import SkirmishScripts.scb into ZH WorldBuilder' issue, I took a detailed look at the file and Im damn sure I saw a folder for the Boss general in there...

Thudo asked me the same question about the screwy folders. I told him how to straighten 'em out but it is a pain in the arse. After every patch EA contunually messes with WB ....continually making it worse..go figure. I have started a project creating an AI for the Boss Gen. The only thing that bothers me is you can only add one more Gen, which in itself is no big deal but it just seems strange...kinda of like the limit on upgrades

Mithril, as for adding a side with a map.ini file I'm sure it can be done, but why would you want to undertake that task. It's sort of like cloning another bridge, you can do it but you have to run the map, then quit and reload the map again....not very efficient.

Yeah youre right, that would take a LONG time since WB is already dead slow..

But the scripts that I have written work for the new side! The drawback is that I have to open every old map and add SkirmishAlgeria to it, but the users won't have to do that unless they add new maps.

But perhaps my scripts work because I use the old world builder, since RV says that EA messes with it all the time. Thats just like xp, one service pack fixes all the problems generated by the previous one!
