how many extra polygons does it add? I don't think it matters since there can be 8 colonel burtons at max on one map (one for each player, and if they are all USA). Looks a lot better than the box that they had before, the other guns could use a lot of work. But maybe if you put it on the marines it will add too many polygons (I like to build a lot of them).

heh its adds a fair few polys, but not a hell of a lot.My pc handles 10 of them on screen at once no worries.Ive still to optimise it.Ive also gotta reduce the texture size its 512x256 lol.Ive found things like animations, advanced effects, and a lot of AI calculations seriously degrade performance more than a couple of hundred triangles.

Any gun I make for regular infantry I will try to optimise as much as possible.

I can make the model for the gun easy enough, but the Rangers fire from the hip, which looks particually stupid for supposedly trained infantry! - Unless of course they are using a SAW

The ranger is not very articulated(has a low number of bones) which can make the animations quite limited.I might have another go after I get some decent digital footage of soldiers.

THe SAW is almost finished anyway, maybe later today

Nah, give the Rangers the XM8 and Burt the OICW

(Search Google for "XM8 Assault Rifle" if you need pics... Should find a few.)

hhhmm those XM8s look like G36s, I dont like them because they look too spacey, and I cant stand the look of the OICW - you could always have a go yourself If you make and skin the model of the gun Ill add it to the infantry if you dont know how.

A question, anyone know why my 16bit textures dissapear when Burton goes stealthed? I can always jsut make the texture 24bit, but at 71K thats a pretty large texture, its still 50K at 16bit.Im a novice with photoshop so I cant reduce the image and make it look good :/

well Im not happy with the SAW, but the burton is pretty much finished, the W3d and texture are here

I cant get the muzzle flash to work properly so I disabled part of it, if you know how to fix it the gmax file is here

To align the ejecting shells properly you will need this code in the weapons fireFX
Code:
  ParticleSystem
    Name = FallingShells
    OrientToObject = Yes
    Offset = X:-8.0 Y:0.0 Z:0.0
    RotateX = 45
    RotateY = -20
  End
